This is a one-day workstation-based intensive course that bridges the gap between diagnostic acquisition and clinical decision making for functional pelvic floor disorders.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

Interpret endoanal ultrasound images: Identify sphincter defects and map complex fistulae using 2D/3D datasets.
Analyze High Resolution Anorectal Manometry: Interpret pressure topography and recognise common manometry patterns and types of pelvic floor dyssynergia
Evaluate Defecography: Understand pelvic floor anatomy and recognise multicompartmental prolapse using MRI and Fluoroscopic imaging.
Tailor Anorectal Biofeedback: Choose personalized therapy protocols based on clinical and manometry findings.
Formulate treatment and surgical plans for patients with pelvic floor disorders.

Colorectal Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery: Hands-on Cadaveric Workshop

Introduction

Minimal invasive colorectal surgery (MIS) continues to advance at pace across the Asia-Pacific region, driven by technological innovation, evolving oncological principles, and an increasing emphasis on patient-centered outcomes. Within SingHealth, there has been a strong commitment to advancing surgical excellence through structured training, multidisciplinary collaboration, and the adoption of cutting edge techniques in both laparoscopic and robotic platform.

As case complexity increases - particularly in rectal cancer, re-operative surgery, and extended pelvic dissections - there is a growing need for surgeons to move beyond foundational skills towards mastery of precise anatomical dissection and advanced operative strategies. In this context, experiential learning plays a critical role.

The masterclass has been thoughtfully designed to support regional surgeons in this next phase of development. Combining expert faculty from SingHealth with high fidelity cadaveric hands-on training, the course provides a unique opportunity to refine techniques in a realistic and anatomically accurate setting. Particular emphasis will be placed on challenging pelvic procedures, including D3 complete mesocolic excision, natural orifice specimen extraction, transanal transection and single-stapled anastomosis, male total mesorectal excision and lateral pelvic lymph node dissection, with a focus on anatomical planes, nerve preservation, and safe reproducibility.

Beyond technical skills, this programme also aims to foster collaboration and shared learning across the region, strengthening networks and advancing standards of care in colorectal surgery.

Learning Objectives

Perform key MIS colorectal procedures in a cadaveric setting

Execute the essential steps of CME and TME with attention to oncological principles
Perform lateral pelvic lymph node dissection with safe identification of boundaries and preservation of vital structures
Perform NOSE and TTSS under guidance of field expert

Translate principle of precision surgery into practice

Optimise port placement, ergonomics, and instrument handling for both laparoscopic and robotic platforms
Demonstrate strategies for achieving precise dissection in confined pelvic spaces

Recognise and manage intra-operative challenges

Anticipate anatomical variations and technical pitfalls in complex pelvic surgery
Apply structured approaches to troubleshooting difficult dissections and maintaining operative safety

Essential Gastrointestinal Anastomosis Workshop

Introduction

Surgical residents are expected to be competent in the safe creation of bowel anastomosis and trouble-shooting stapler-related problems. These skills are not specifically covered in resident teachings. Thus, there is a need to provide a safe environment where such techniques and skills can be learned through didactic teachings and hands-on porcine model simulating human intestines.

Learning Objectives

The aim of the workshop is to provide a structured curriculum to deepen the surgeon’s fundamental knowledge and principles of gastrointestinal anastomosis. Emphasis will be placed on evidence-based techniques and practical tips on how to create safe anastomosis and avoid anastomotic leaks.

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

Distinguish between the different types of gastrointestinal anastomosis
Gain familiarity with creating upper and lower gastrointestinal anastomoses
Discuss about managing practical problems, including trouble-shooting stapler malfunction, management and treatment of suspected leaks
